Cricket is
the major sport of the Indian subcontinent and more broadly of the
Commonwealth. Boria Majumdar, a cricket historian and researcher at the
University of Central Lancashire, discusses the place and influence of this
sport in this region of the world.

Majumdar is a professor at the University of Central Lancashire in England,
cricket historian and author of many books on the subject (A Social History of
Indian Cricket, Lost Histories of Indian Cricket: Battles of the Pitch, The
Illustrated History of Indian Cricket or Cricketing Cultures in Conflict: the
2003 World Cup) . He explains the special place occupied by this sport in India
and Pakistan .
